AI - Adamantly Ignorant:P

i'm kidding, i'm kidding. it's been going around, you know. AI's are actually cool. you know why? well, because majority of the movies that i've watched that has something to do(even remotely, mind you) with robots always ends with either the robots become super-smart and came up with an awesome thought-process that enabled them to decide that they should keep humanity safe by ruling over them with an iron fist OR they all die a very metal-clanking death.

some of the awesome-est robots can be found in the age old saga of (dun dun dunnn..) starwars! there's.. R2D2 and that.. uh.. golden dude with a gay-ish personality. WHAT? i'm a bit of a sexist, yeah. but i have gay friends, too. well, atleast i think they're gay.:P oh! it's C3PO! i almost forgot.

aanyway. next in line would be that trashcan thing that has feet? yeah. i dunno what those things are called, but they look like trashcans.

and the most famous and quite comical of all, of course, would be the droids! why? well, i think they're comical. but i think storm troopers are comical, too. if they were droids, i don't think this :

would happen. thank god Lucas thought about the troopers being clones. this actually happened in the movie. check it if you don't believe! i actually did and laughed my ass off the whole night.

anyway. AIs have been around for at least a century(well, decent AIs.). they've been going where no man has ever been: Mars, and other nooks and crannies that our grubby hands and bodies can't seem to go or fit.

what's awesome-er about droids, AIs and such is the fact that they're not that gullible, unlike this stormtrooper:

see? SEE?! I TOLD YOU! imagine if you can command someone just like that. like..

me: "you will get a 5.0"

generic prof: "you will get a 5.0"

IMAGINE THAT! well anyway.

as technology advances, it's an obvious fact that AIs will be more... human-like. but of course, they can never be human; so far. what separates us humans, mortal and meek, from them, the maniacal processing monsters of doom, is that WE can think for ourselves. we don't need no program to run us and give us commands every now and then. them, even though they're IMBA, they have to follow a directive. like,

if "bumped on wall"
{ "destroy wall" OR "destroy wall" }

something like that. but it's clear and without a doubt that humans and robots can and will co-exist in the near future. robots like WALL-E would be needed soon, like, for cleaning up stuff? gosh, we gotta have those here in the Phillies. seriously. by a very long shot, highly developed AIs would be of high value for us, since it can do specific tasks that most of its kind won't be able to.

hopefully, in the near future, our race can create a line of robots to serve us, then only to take over us and make us their slaves. kidding. sci-fi and all thrown away, AIs would be one of the most reliable resource we can acquire in the future, since our planet's almost at its limits, and we'll need all the help we can get to try and turn it back into the way it was, for our sake.

Tuesday

Let's ROCK!

when i was a kid, i already had this affinity with digital things. well, maybe not exactly affinity, but i'm guessing you know what i mean. back then, i can recall how my dad deprived me and my brother of cable for the whole span of my childhood. of course, the only thing racing in your mind right now would be the question "why?"

so yeah, here's the thing. everybody knows about adam's family, yes? please say yes. well, i knew a lot of people who doesn't know elmo.

probably they were deprived of a happy childhood. so tragic. moving on, i remember how that thing(which, i think would be the severed hand.) i remembered IT punching someone, Uncle Fester, i think, resulting to a blackeye. so i was sitting there with the thoughts.. "hm. why not. >:]".

the result? my brother was crying because i gave him a good swing that gave him a blackeye. yes, kit is such a primate. thank you.

on to the topic.

ever since me and my brother had our first gaming platform, which would be that thing that plays pacman and tetris, i never wanted to stop playing games. computer games at that. then we started begging our parents, yes, literally begging, to get us a PSONE, you know those gray thin-looking encyclopedias with two buttons on the side.

yes, that. after playing dozens of games and practically losing a good part of my pre-teen life because of games, we got another platform! we got a Pentium 3 (frankly, that's all i can remember about the specs of that old computer.) computer. where i got to play the most awesome of games back then. which would be diablo, doom 2000, starcraft, mechwarrior 3, mechwarrior 4: mercenaries, ground control, and a lot more.

and ever since then, i've been an avid fan of games of all types. be it card games, sports or whatever. but the only thing that can take my whole attention span, mind you, i'm known as someone who as an attention span of a pancake. we all know that pancakes have no attention spans, thus my point. like i said, the only thing that could capture my whole being and attention would be, of course, computer games. i've played most of the well-known online games like Ragnarok Ph, Ran Online, R.O.S.E., Tantra, R.F. Online, and most recently, Cabal Online.

i've also had my fair share of genres like real-time strategy(RTS), first-person shooters (FPS), and role-playing games(RPG), which are the most common type of games found in computers. even played the Jumpstart series when i was a kid on my computer.

i've absolutely no idea why, but there's just something about digital items, especially the computer, that attracts me. i'm a techie, i'd give you that. give me a camera and 30 minutes and i'll know how to use it in general. i've had my fair share of all things digital, like my PSP, my phone, my Laptop, my (broken)MP3 player, and dozens of other stuff, all of which has names.

PSP = Chloe
Phone = Ramon
Laptop = George
MP3 Player(ZEN) = Charlie

that's just to name a few. yes, call me a freak, but sooner or later, people'll start naming their gadgets as well.:P

now, i'm just waiting for god's grace: a new, IMBA, super YUMMY, FAST PROCESSING MONSTER to handle my insatiable gaming appetite. why? BECAUSE STARCRAFT II, DAWN OF WAR II, R.A. 3 AND TONS MORE ARE ALMOST RELEASED/RELEASED! that's why. and if you're a gamer and seen these games since its early years in the market, you'll know why you HAVE TO HAVE the computer that has the guts to take in and process that much data.

whenever i play games, especially the ones i like, like Warcraft III : The Frozen Throne - DotA, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade, Starcraft, and others, i sorta go into a trance. once i start, i have to finish, only taking breaks if i need to use the bathroom. i'll be literally glued to my seat if i go undisturbed. and because of this trance, i won't feel hungry or thirsty until i get off the seat to stop and rest.

so yeah, that's how much i love gaming. it's more of a mix of addiction and passion; depends on the person, actually. but for me, i know i ain't gonna stop gaming anytime soon.:D

Creative vs. iPod

Last year, i got a Creative ZEN 4G back when i had a vacation in Singapore with my mum, brother, and mum's boyfriend. i couldn't help but compare it with an iPod since i was faced with the choice of either getting a Creative ZEN 4G or a 2G iPod; since i was so sucked in with the fact that the Creative ZEN had a much much more bigger screen than the current latest iPod that existed back then.

When i tried to tinker with it, i was amazed because it has THEMES (yes, it has themes. BEAT THAT iPOD!), it has a planner/calendar, an organizer, an audio recorder, and it was relatively light. you could also even change the background to a picture of your liking. down side? it was extremely fragile. and by extremely, i meant extremely.. it has its own similarities with an iPod, like it can create playlists, it can also store pictures, and can arrange the files according to a specific designation (like, artist, album, song title, A-Z. the usual.) another downside to this nifty gadget would be that it often hangs, so you need to reboot every once and a while. biased or not, i consider and iPod tougher than my Creative ZEN because i've dropped my mate's iPod a few times, and it didn't even break. and i think (insert pronoun here) still doesn't know i did.:D

Overall, both are almost in the same price range, so it's basically up to the buyer if he/she wants to buy from Apple or Creative. in the end, it's best if the product you choose suits your lifestyle. who would want a fragile player if he/she moves around too much and is somewhat like a kluts(like me!).
